"Yes, a sink with drainboard is useful in many cases. Its usability depends on the type of work you have to undertake in the kitchen. If you often wash your dishes manually then a drainboard is an ideal place to dry them. The smooth or ribbed sloped surface of the drainboard lets water go directly into the sink. These boards come in all materials as that of a sink such as stainless steel, porcelain etc. Delicate items such as crystal wine glasses and other crockeries are hand washed. As a result drainboard is needed to dry them. Sometimes you have to drain water from a big hot pan that has boiled spaghetti in it. A drainboard is an ideal place to put it for draining. You can also keep your cutting board on drainboard for cutting veggies and fruits. Peelings and refuse would then go from the drainboard into the garbage disposal. "
